FRIDAY AT THE STAGECOACH

People--lots and lots of people. Lots of RVs. Beer. Red plastic cups. Booze. Boots. Happy drunks and not-so-happy drunks. Folding chairs. Wristbands. Cowboys. Cowgirls. Rednecks and security checks. Music. That's the Stagecoach Festival.
There were three stages at the fest. The Mane Stage (ain't that clever), the Palomino and the Mustang stages. I generally try to avoid the large crowd events, but I had to see John Fogerty and The Eagles on Friday night, so I braved the crowds at the 'Mane Stage'--and it was well worth it!
I generally would rather not take pictures off of the screens, but in that cluster-fuck, it was just about my only option. (I wasn't gonna pay VIP prices when there were only about three acts on that stage that I wanted to see.)
So, we sat through Trisha Yearwood to have a better seat for later....yawn. (Sorry Yearwood fans) Then the sun went down and the three day party began...
Many folks would say that the following two groups aren't really 'country'--well, screw you, I don't care!
Fogerty was great--beyond great! It is plain to see that he enjoys what he does. Old stuff, new stuff--all fantastic. I would have been happy if he had played all night. I don't want to miss him next time he's playing in my neck of the woods.
The Eagles. Over the years I have felt that they have become money whores. After seeing them though, I believe they may be worth it--almost--I just don't think you should have to go broke to see music. Guess that's another reason I prefer the smaller venues. It is apparent that a lot of that Eagles cash goes into the 'show'. They were giving away the eye candy. Superb visuals and backdrops. The music was pretty damn good, too. They've been playing together long enough, they should be tight!
Here's the Friday pictorial. Saturday and Sunday to follow at a later date...

Rednecks and secruity checks? There's a song in there somewhere. I commend your bravery, everytime I go to something like this I find myself thinking, I could be home with a JD in my fist watching this on the big screen and no assholes in sight (unless I invite Zog over).

Ahhhhhhh-hah-ha, denizen! We better be nice to Zog, I was going to commission him to write the song/poem for me...

The next two days were much better as far as hot and sweaty throngs go-- I stuck to the two smaller stages. Except for Sat. night, I fought the crowds again for The Judds. (Here is were I confess--I like The Judds.)

ooooooh hot and sweaty thongs.

Oh, t-h-r-o-n-g-s, never mind.

Don't worry about Zog. He's to busy with his Brink-o-matic pumping out new contributions to read ours.

OK, let's make it throngs of sweaty thongs...

Is that all he's pumping?
