SECOND STAR
Second Star is the first track on my second album Don't Tell which is due to be released July 2007. a genre puree of various ingredients including rock, folk, blues, west coast noire. English artist/producer Simon Alpin and the mighty Chuck Prophet sprinkle their magic dust all over this record.
advance copies available on www.cdbaby.com/haskard2
yes yes.
it is chuck but it's his silvertone.
can you hear him flicking and clicking the switch like a mad boy genius?
i have it's sister here in London
and that hooky bass lick is him too.

sure is plucky for a silvertone...only chuck! he could make my crusty old kay swingster sound like gold i'd imagine. i went on cd baby and gave all the cuts a good listen. very nice. i forwarded the link to some fellow CP fans in case they dont get wind of the release (they might be as semi-clueless as me). and k.d lang? maybe the last tune- but theres something overall that takes me back to my favorite gregson/collister albums. theyre uk folk- familiar with them at all?
i will give cd baby a detailed and unbiased (uh huh) review when i get my hands on the new cd.
thanks for the reply kathleen. you oughta play san diego some day. bring chuck with ya.

he did use the fender too but to the best of my recollection that one was silvertoned.
my dad is in carlsbad and so i've been wantin' to play down there.where would be a good place to play?
the kd lang comparison is a vocal quality/sonic thing i guess. it was a rock critic in minneapolis that wrote that and i must say the girlie gay community were out in force because of it!
i will definately check out gregson/hollister. and thanks for helpin' to spread the word.
there's only so much us indie's can do on our own.....

from the pictures on your site i see you have one of the black single cutaway silvertones too. i refer to it as the "john hiatt at budakan" model for some reason. mine has a bigsby and cosmic gibson made p/u's. but to answer your question about san diego venues- i would recommend the BELLY UP in solana beach (chuck would too) and the ACOUSTIC MUSIC SAN DIEGO series which you can google. love to see you play this musical wasteland. maybe open for chuck?

yeah i'd dig that too...i had the pleasure of opening both sold out nights at the Borderline for Chuck and the Mission Express here in London in November 2005 on the back of The Age Of Miracles.
Then again when he was back in the UK on his Stinking Badges solo tour January of last year armed with a guitar a Roland 808 and a bullet mic i did about half of those dates as well. aural bliss..... and no "we didn't need no stinking badges"!

Also known as the Jesus and Mary Chain model.
According to people who know these things, those mini humbuckers came from Gibson. Silvertone and Gibson were in bed together briefly and Harmony or Silvertone or whatever-you-want-to-call-em, took advantage of those Firebird mini humbuckers while they could.
Shit Zog, do you think Dave Alvin would approve?
I doubt it.

id wager that unless said beloved silvertones sported three singlecoils and were plugged into an old bassman, dave could give a squirrel's sphincter.
and mine is the Jesus and Morricone model. i have onboard delay and trem effects!
